Daniele Baccala was born in London, UK, and
started dancing at a young age, when she was 12 she won a scholarship
to study with the charismatic Laverne Meyer at the Legat School
of Russian Ballet.
She
has been living in Far North Queensland since 1999 working as a
performance artist, choreographer and dance teacher at the Regional
Institute of Performing Arts. Daniele’s main focus in contemporary
dance and collaborative performance led her to found Cairns dance
collective Diverse Dance
in 2004.
Daniele
has been involved as a performer, teacher and choreographer in various
arts projects in Far North Queensland, including Festival Cairns,
Carnival on Collins, Australian Dance Week and Upholstery Art exhibitions
to name a few.
Over
the past few years Daniele has been invited as a guest teacher to
Hopevale State School, Cooktown State High School, Gordonvale State
School, Yarrabah State High School, Freshwater State School and
Kuranda State High School.
